A coffee-selling café in the Old Pecinaan Market area of Turap Singapur, Siak Regency, Riau, caught fire on Tuesday (6/8/2024). The incident caused panic among the traders.

The café is one of the few buildings in Pecinaan that had previously burned down six years ago.

Fortunately, the Siak Regency fire brigade swiftly extinguished the flames, preventing them from spreading to other stores like in the 2018 incident.

At the scene, firefighters were seen working hard to put out the fire that had engulfed the entire building. Residents also assisted in the effort.

The heroic actions of the firefighters were praised by the locals. Residents suspect that the fire was caused by a gas stove.

"Fortunately, the firefighters arrived quickly and extinguished the fire, preventing it from spreading to other shops," said one resident at the scene.

Siak Fire Department Head, Irwan Priyatna, SSI, explained that the incident occurred around 14:50 WIB. While there were no casualties, the losses are estimated to be in the hundreds of millions.

"We received the report at 15:00 WIB. By 15:10 WIB, we arrived at the location, and by 16:57 WIB, the fire was extinguished," Irwan Priyatna told Riauaktual.com.

Irwan added that based on the statement from the owner of Zhafran Café, the fire was caused by a gas stove leak. "Yes, that's correct. The fire was caused by a gas stove leak," concluded the Fire Department Head
